Eitetsu Hayashi
Guest: Shonosuke Okura
Eitetsu Hayashi -- Japanese drum performer whose beats transcends time and space. Each pummel of his baton produces a moment of resonance with the spirit of nature. Famed Noh percussionist Shonosuke Okura on the "otsuzumi" drum also makes an appearance in their premiere joint performance free of creative constraints.

<Folk Religion of Tosa>
Rituals of Izanagi-ryu in Monobe-son village:
Onzaki-no-Matsuri
From deep in the mountains of Monobe, a folk religion formed through a fusion of the indigenous "Shugendo" (emphasizing the actual physical aspects of asceticism) and "Ommyo-do" (an academic study based on astrology of Chinese) origin from ancient times. To be shown are the unique prayer rituals and dances; also an exhibit of "gohei", artistic instruments of prayer.

<Brazilian Liturgical Rite>
Candomblé, The Origins of Afro-Brazilian Music
Native African religions came to Brazil along with the slave trade. Candomblé is the unique result of the mixing of those religions with European Catholicism, forced upon them as slaves. Monica Millet, grandniece of traditional priestess Meninha, in her first appearance out of Brazil, together with Grupo Ase do Brasil. The rhythmical beat they produce inspired Latin Pops!
