A new work of the preeminent Indian choreographer, Chandralekha! Sensuality and human consciousness, as a wildly flickering flame, become One within the human body and transform themselves into an infinite creative energy.
Chandralekha, the celebrated choreographer of Indian contemporary dance who has already appeared and astonished audiences in the 1993 and 1996 Tokyo Summer Festivals, returns with her latest work "Sharira -- Fire/Desire". "Sharira" is a primordial feminine energy which enlivens both the inner and outer beings. It bubbles forth from the depths of the human body and transforms into an explosive creative energy which releases us into a world free from the limitations of body and mind, or inner and outer realms. Gifted choreographer Chandralekha creates awe-inspiring and exciting moments which meld flaming sensuality with rationality within oneself. The Gundecha Brothers, world-renown musicians of "Dhrupad" (a form of Hindustani classical music in northern India) will make their first appearance in Japan.
